When I read Becky Chambers' The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, it gave me a real Mass Effect feel in the relationships among the crewmembers. In Bioware games, the character relationships and romances were one of the primary appeals, so Chambers' work was what I expected a Mass Effect book would be like. This is nothing like that. This is pure military science fiction.
