Story has picked up again. Should have had more on the hero's captivity and torture and less on the love of all humanity, and all men/women are born equal, which would be a thought totally absent from that world. Despite the total submission of the male character before the glory of the female one, and her finally rewarding him with sex for the trouble, this couple is fetching. Good writing saves the day, I suppose.

Story getting off its rocker now, managing to be both crazy and boring. As if having the hero's very contemporary worship and appreciation of the heroine was not enough to put you off, now the Pharaoh wants to marry her. The latter and the heroine are touring the kingdom on the way to their nuptials in Memphis (Ancient Egypt -Kemet) and she has turned into a Diana Spencer. No sign of the hero for some chapters now.

So far so good. Well written, although the characters sound modern (but that is the plague of current HRs). I suppose one had to settle for 'at least not too modern'. Enjoyable yarn.

She would have recognised them anywhere. Their blue flames burned into her, melting her heart.
Those eyes.
Those impossibly blue eyes.

So the heroine is a prideful stubborn sneak who is a compulsive liar and the hero wants to sell her off as a bride to buy a boat. I'm not sure whether to be amused or turned off by all this. But the ancient Egyptian setting has captured my interest. For now....

Author flits between using years, days and weeks and what they would have said (moon cycles, sun cycles, and Summers, etc.) She should stick with what they would have described as the passing of time.

advanced age of 23 -- not sure if in ancient Egypt BC, they would have described their age as such.
