I don't think we ever had the girls go off to school before so this is interesting! Normally the books kinda repeat the same plots

I swear to God these people are the worst spy catchers I have ever seen. Also, I refuse to believe Joel would still be entrusted with these state secrets at this point with his obvious inability to secure them properly. Good god

Girl let him go. You don't need any man in your life who won't fight to be with you.

I have to say this one still reads like a Carr, but the writing style is a bit different. The notorious ellipses and passive dialogue aren't nearly as pervasive. Wondering if she had help from a ghost writer as she aged. I did have a friend who ghostwrote books for a while for well known authors (an NDA prevented saying who) and she said such ghostwriting is done for more established authors than one would think.

World War I is here. The book is def missing something compared to the other Carr wartime books, but I like it. I would give it about 3 stars so far. Lucinda is such a good girl and she can be a little boring. However, Annabelinda the "bad girl" gets on my nerves. Shut the f up already. And I think maybe Andrée is supposed to be a spy.
