Definitely enjoying it. I can see where it was inspired by various other books, but that's ok.
What we've learned so far about the setting is interesting. Provided this plot actually wraps up cleanly instead of being a cliffhanger I'll likely look into the series more.

I was very disappointed that google did not return any usable results for "preternatural investigator" even though the book told me otherwise :p

This is a very short book so I expect we won't get true closure at the end. The latest fad these days seems to be to self publish half a story for free and end on a blatant cliffhanger. I hope this isn't one of those as the first two chapters seem to have potential. I'm optimistic and will hopefully finish it tomorrow or the next day.
