I'm having a lot of trouble getting into this book. It's really long winded & slow pacing - if this is sci-fi, I'm usually not a fan because it usually takes forever to get past all the detail to get to the point

I'm up to the beginning of ch. 24, approaching the place where other reviews say the book improves. But I am REALLY struggling—enjoying neither the story nor the narration. I'm going to set it aside for a while. I'm not DNFing it yet. I'll give it another go. But I need a break.
