I adore Arnold Lobel and Uncle Elephant. This is a story I believe I'll think back on often. I'm taking it back to the library today, so here's to one last read before the book and I part ways for now.

"I have a song.
It's an elephant song.
I will sing it
and never forget
that, of all music played,
there is no better made
than an uncle
and nephew duet."

So good. This must have been cathartic for Arnold Lobel.

Beautiful stuff all around. No one understood the loveliness of life like Arnold Lobel.

This absolutely merits a second read before I attempt a review. Arnold Lobel is too deep to assess on the back of a single read.

That was a deep moment in this book. It will merit a lot of thought when it comes time for my review.

Such a lovely, fitting illustration on page thirty-one. Arnold Lobel is one of my all-time favorites.

Arnold Lobel writes with deft poignancy; I can never get enough of his stories. I hope Uncle Elephant takes a place in my heart beside Owl at Home and the Frog and Toad series.
