"Jake was writhing in the cot. Face flush with blood." - I thought he was injured and blood was streaming down his face. Thank goodness that's not the case. I think his face was merely red from crying/screaming?

"she said, throwing him a repeating smile..." I'm not sure what this means. I like the character though and her physical description was really well done. She seems fun.

Would have liked a bit more of an idea of why these two are together. I don't like the way he talks to his wife; it seems cruel.

"creating a single blossom of destruction against the blackness." - standout line. Love, love this imagery.

"Matching his thoughts, a rear camera view snapped into view on his HUD, showing the missiles spread out in a cluster behind him." - I love the technology in this book. The grammar and proofreading issues are distracting, however.
