When the book starts with tropes, its a buzzkill.

His guts are spilled everywhere and it's been like 20 minutes. Could he just die already?

When did he take their hearing? Just before the battle? Because you don't learn sign language overnight. Years and years ago? Why though? And what were they doing in the storage room? Read it supposed to slow down Eagan's army?

Fadius is between Jermise and Eagan. Two pages later, Aemon ousts a nameless elder from beside Fadius and claims the sear.

Why not have Arlas infiltrate the council meeting that he's supposed to be at anyway?

But why does she feel like Jork's gift is a curse? Why would the flame realm consider an ice storm thi be a freak accident and not automatically assume foul play, especially considering Eagan's animosity toward the ice realm?

Why would he know anything about a gynecological exam?

I don't understand that display at all. How do these governments work? Are the rulers of the individual realms not free to make their own decisions without the consensus of all the other realms?
