Status Updates From Loverboy (Dartmoor) (Volume 5)

I knew this would be heartbreaking but I’m also loving it. I always get lost in the Dartmoor story world.

This is riveting but exhausting. I'm not in the right headspace for such an angsty tale.

His eyes burned and he looked away, took another hit off the bottle.
In a small, vulnerable voice, Ian said, “Do you think it will be better now? Since she’s gone?”

“I hope so.”

Ian sat up, and leaned against Tango’s shoulder, the warm pressure a comfort. It felt like apology and gratitude. Like friendship. Like letting one another go.

They watched the sun come up.

And…and they did. They were all looking at him, all with blends of horror and fierce determination on their faces. Not one of them looked like they hated him, or that he made them sick.
             
He darted a glance to Ghost, and the president looked proud.
             
“See?” Aidan whispered. “It’s okay. They love you, brother.”
             
Tango burst into tears and dropped his face into his hands.
 

Mercy said, “If it was about being with someone we were good for, I’d still be alone.”

Tango looked down at his lap.
             
“Sometimes,” Mercy continued. “It’s okay to be a little bit selfish, if it’s for the right reason.”

With Maggie, Ghost had set a precedent: he wanted a strong woman, and he worshipped her for that strength. Gone were the days of property patches and naked groupie Bitches on the backs of bikes. Gone too were the days of abject club poverty. Ghost had steadily built an empire, and sought to create a public image that was poised, dangerous, and powerful.
