Status Updates From Island of Lost Rubies

Premarital sex on a chapel floor in the middle of a hurricane! SCANDALOUS!! *clutches pearls*

'Debris scraped against the stone walls below, as if the swamp were clawing at the chapel. Then a big oak that had once shaded the churchyard snapped & fell. In the deafening wind I did not even hear the tree fall, but watched it slowly sink to earth & lie across the church steps.'

'I had always thought that if spirits remained around their graves to haunt intruders it would be a frightening experience. And I truly did not know whether or not my family's spirits roamed this part of the island, but I had the oddest sensation that if they watched me it was with love, perhaps yearning, but not malice.'

'Suddenly I was caught in a tangle of sharp claws & leather reins. The cat's howl & the horse's whinnies mingled with my own screams, & I felt the phaeton jerk forward as I tumbled off the seat.' ....Bwahaha! Heroine is attacked by a sinister, deranged, & oh-so-fluffy white Persian. That's priceless. >:D

'The door scraped as we pushed it inward, & we held the candles we had brought with us aloft, so we could see. Then a flash of lightning outside illuminated the shrouded furniture & the cobwebs strung from the chandelier to the corners of the room.'

'The water rushed to shore beyond the dunes where we paused, looking at the stretch of sky with gray clouds fading into the darkness. I could sense Richard's energy, akin to my own, as we silently communed with the beauty & mystery of the windy island.' ....Cousins reunited as adults: a time-honored goffick tradition. :D

Ugh this book is dull so far. Hardly anything has happened. Hope it picks up soon
