Status Updates From The Sky Cult (Esper Files #2)

Is it just me or does the rules pertaining to James' power only matter when it's convenient? Several times now, in this and the previous book, he's been able to teleport places he seemingly shouldn't if I understand the rules behind his powers correctly.

I feel like there is constantly some details or context missing, and not in the 'it's going to be revealed later' way, it just isn't there...

And the parallels to Kaitou KID just keep coming... (The Phantom Thief might be inspired by another phantom thief, but KID is the one I'm the most familiar with and so the first to come to mind)

And honestly Red Cap just sounds like Deadpool...

A Phantom Thief that announces his thefts and steal jewels... A secret organization willing to kill for the same jewels... Now why does that feel familiar?

I notice that the average rating goes up as the seires progress. I guess it's partly because a lot off people who didn't like the first book don't bother picking up the second or third, which lowers the percentage of neutral and negative reviews. But then again this is probably the case for most series.

I'm not entirely sure why but I find the use of monikers in these books to be somewhat stilted. It just doesn't work as intended.

I'm glad I still like this book. Although the name Lichtmann is really bothering me because it literally means Light man!

I really want to finish this book today

The Red Cap is basically deadpool. I don't have an issue with it though
