But when looking at what we’re going to do for the day, we’ve got to do some pruning. We’re getting out those shears and getting this tree into shape. Decide what things truly have to be done for the day and prune off the rest.

I had tied up my worth and value in my writing. The rejection letter wasn’t just about my writing; it went straight to my heart as a rejection of me. I was looking to outside sources to validate me, to reassure me I was enough. When we look to anything other than Jesus to show us we’re enough, we’ll never measure up

Mom always made applesauce in the fall. It’s truly best warm right off the stove. We love it over biscuits, on pancakes, and of course, just for plain eating. The other reason I love applesauce is because I can use it in my baking as a substitute for oil.

Biscuit dough freezes really well. I often make a double batch and freeze the second sheet of unbaked biscuits. After an hour or so (or whenever you remember), transfer the biscuits to a sealable freezer container and store in the freezer for up to six months. Take out and bake as normal whenever the urge (or unexpected company) hits you. You may need to increase baking time by 2 minutes.

If our first reaction to having someone visit is stress, that’s a sure sign something is out of balance.
