Status Updates From Our Family Quilt: The Fabri...

So far it reads like what it is, an unedited, self published novel by a first time author. The blank lines between the sentences chops up the story. There is little in the way of imagery, for example, the characters go hiking and come upon a lake. Just a lake, no description at all. The storyline jumps from one subject to another. The voice of the teenager sounds like she is 30 years old. Hoping for improvement

I don't know if I'm going to be able to finish this one. Only in the first chapter and it's already driving me crazy.

The characters don't use contractions when speaking! That is one of my major complaints of indie authors.
