Status Updates From X-Men: Bishop's Crossing

Why swimsuit magazines were part of super-hero comics, I don’t understand.

I mean, it’s bad enough that most of the women’s costumes get so shredded they resemble a two-piece every other issue!

I didn’t read too much of issue #293.

Jean tells Warren how it is.
He’s responsible for his actions. He can blame Apocalypse for taking one night away from him. The rest of his life is his own…

Mikhail’s madness envelopes the Morlocks and he floods the tunnels!

That was a sad phone call Peter had to make.

Bishop reassures Storm she will get her life back together, with her friend’s love.

Issue #290 -
Oh my goodness. Forge said he’d give Ororo time to answer but then when she hesitates, he can’t handle it and decides to be an armchair psych and tells Ororo why she ‘won’t let herself’ have a normal life.

And she was going to say yes!!

To use her childhood trauma against her is beyond cruel.

There’s also something going on with Peter’s brother Mikhail.

I skipped issues #291 and 292.

Issue #289 -
At least Forge admitted why he was being a jerk. Because he was hurt that Storm was distant.

He wants her to take a chance on herself… Forge asks Storm to marry him!

Mystique tries ‘helping’ Warren, who can’t stand the sight of who he once was.

And Hiro’s warning is ill-worded and ill-timed!

Uncanny X-Men #288 -
What’s this thing with Scott and Betsy?!

Also this art seemed very different, comparing it to the last issue.

In this issue, Bishop learns a very hard lesson. One that goes against what he’d been taught his whole life, in his own time.

But this is not his time. And he recognises he has much to learn.

X-Men V2 #8 -
Storm still isn’t sure of Bishop’s membership.
Xavier believes Bishop will learn fact from fiction.

The new teammate is introduced to the others. He calls Jubilee ‘the last X-Men’.
Then he recognises Gambit….

Bishop believes Gambit will betray the X-Men. Then demands Xavier to mind scan him!
Everyone knows Gambit is loyal.

After a fight (of course), the next plot opens with Gambit’s wife!

Issue #287 -
The X-Men arrive as Bishop and his crew are finishing off the last of the criminals from the future.

Unfortunately, his men are killed and events see Bishop pass out.

We get a glimpse of what happened before Bishop and his men arrived in their past.

Bishop wakes to find himself surrounded by the X-Men and Xavier.

After a conversation, the Professor exclaims the team has a new member!

Once again skimmed this issue (#286).

Peter’s brother Mikhail talks of his past and how he came to live in the Void.

There was fighting and explosions.

There was no Bishop and his crew.

The end sees Peter resuscitating his brother and telling him of their sister.

Skipped most of issue #285.

Peter has a brother??!

On Earth, Bishop’s team may have done more harm than good.

After killing more future mutant crooks, the humans now reckon that the X-Men - having recognised the giant ‘X’ on their belts - will eventually turn on them and they should kill them first.

Bishop says they must use this opportunity to never let their past come to pass!

Issue #284 -
I skipped the plot with Starfire and this Void.

Jean and Xavier talk about her near death experience and wonder if Emma has also saved herself.

While Jean didn’t sense anything, Xavier may've felt something…

Bishop and his team kill a trio of future crooks.
After the criminals completely ravaged a little town, killing everyone…

Bishop reaffirms they must be as cold as those they hunt.

Issue #283 -
Bishop learns his trip is one-way… He tells Fitzroy there now must be blood spilled to fix what’s been done.

The X-Men engage, and the time-traveller believes they are fakes.

Shinobu’s men kidnap Fitzroy and detonate explosives around the base.

Bishop and his men get away.

Storm must learn more about Bishop. He’s touched a nerve.

Jean, with Xavier’s help, goes back into her own body!

Issue #282 -
Where’s Cyclops, Beast and Wolverine?

Xavier knows Jean is not dead, he would have sensed that. He also knows that he would have sensed the death of such a powerful telepath as Emma Frost…

Using Cerebro sees the X-Men finding Fitzroy’s fortress…

The heroes beat his Sentinels so Fitzroy opens a portal to the future, having made a deal with future mutants…

He didn’t expect Bishop to step out!

Issue #281 -
Doesn’t seem connected to the new series.

The X-Men have been called to the Hellfire Club by Emma Frost.
Who has been dealing with would-be assassins.

Shinobi and Fitzroy compare their Sentinels’ sizes. Fitzroy plans to take Shinobi’s new Kingship.

Pierce has been chased by Sentinels and uses Gateway to port to Hellfire Club. Along with Sentinels!

Who destroys Pierce and kills Emma AND Jean…

I remember watching the Bishop episodes in the animated show and really enjoying them.

I am very excited to read his first appearance!

I have no idea how this original series is going to connect, if at all, with the new series. I’m very interested to see how they approached it.
