Refreshing to read a history that features women’s lives and contributions. Separately, had to note down this excerpt of the author reflecting on a particularly satisfying day: “I was entirely present, and yet at the end of the day I recalled almost nothing, which is how I imagine life goes. For a while you remember the taste of the apple, but then you just remember that it was sweet.”

Interesting to reed nursery catalogue descriptions of long forgotten apple trees.
This is a great companion book called “Taste, Memory “ I read years ago that is a dear book to my heart . I am so happy to have found this author she’s really relaxing to read .

Fascinating the writing turns towards women watercolor artists who worked for the USDA documenting apple species . Interesting to read of so many female arts who were able to live off their earnings from mid 1800s-early 1900s. I really enjoy how this author writes and allows her story to flow and move as her mind thinks of connecting ideas .
