Status Updates From Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut

The ASMR in this book is probably the best in Newbery history.

It's been years since I read this highly unusual Newbery Honoree. Let's give it another go.

This book is good I reccomend it to someone else

"There are two dudes, one with locs, the other with cornrows, and a lady with a butterscotch complexion," OKAY I had to go check for this author's biography because when I saw he wrote butterscotch complexion--I was like is he from my hometown ?--or is he from where my relatives are from ---New Jersey or Alabama / ---Again Derrick Barnes has EVERY word in this book sooooo right !

"When it's your turn in the chair, you stand at attention and forget about who you were when you walked through that door." Whomp there it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Derrick Barnes got it right---there is JUST SOMETHING about the aura one feels when they walk into an African American or Latin American Barber Shop and or Beauty Salon. There is NO BETTER WAY 2 explain it ! This book has grabbed my attention from PAGE 1 !
