Man, I wonder what Stephen's inner monologue sounds like! I can't put this book down! But I must! Work calls. Ah well, at least it will stop me from fretfully glancing at the quickly diminishing page count.

Again, as I pondered through Winter Fisherman's Lodge and Rorschach Blots, what you experience previously sets you up for what is acceptable, even desirable, in the future. In this book, Nathan appreciates Adam, his roommate. But he ain't no friend: he won't let him practice his French, he doesn't clean the bathroom after himself, he's none too kind, but, he's so much better than druggies stealing his shit.

Loving the flow of this book. And Nathan's inner monologue. He seems strong yet extremely vulnerable. And funny! God he's funny. Example, the thought about footing it, sharpish, after giving his stepdad the finger. (That was an example of pitiful and funny). Here's just funny: "Poor bastard. If cocks were faces, this bloke’d win beauty contests."

I can not for the life of me shake the feeling that Stephen, the professor, is a nice version of Severus Snape. That's all I can picture O.o Another character even compares Stephen to Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility. And guess who played him in the movie? Alan Rickman of course!

I'm kind of over "musky scent." Why don't the dongs in these books ever smell like soap?

For a short story about a rent boy, this isn't very sexy. It's more... sad than I was expecting? Dunno. Having a tough time putting my finger on this one.

So, this was nice? In a rather undemanding way. Slow at times, too.

Hmmm, I dunno Katinka, I feel that even up to this point, there is lack of emotional connection between Nathan and Stephen...

Look Katinka gave this 4.5 stars at the blog. So COLOR ME INTRIGUED. Despite the strong British tone (which I admit I am not comfortable with) I am POWERING this through!!
