why do cosy fantasy writers always create these impossible villains with carte blanche? and why is the MC a wimpy whiner now? it took four books and willful refusal to do his job to nix the sheriff. now the mayor is allowed to be corrupt. i don’t need or want this amplified conflict, which feels like emotional manipulation.
if i have to yell at the author while listening, it loses a star.

I quite enjoyed this one. It had alot of good quotes.
Funny and sweet and mysterious.
I just found it a bit frustrating how she just gave up trying, though. Just assumed no one would believe her, and didn't think through the logic at all to get to her desired result.

Some sirens led sailors to their watery graves with their voices.
Allison led a werewolf to piss on her peonies.
