Wait, how does it go from "If I'm being honest, I've come to expect ridiculous schemes like this" to "from his mother."

This book already has one semi-strike against it--told in present tense. If it starts bouncing from 1st person to 3rd in the same paragraph, it's not going to be pretty.

WTH is with all of these pronoun errors? In part of the sentence it's "he" then it's "she". It's making me suspect that this was possibly plagiarized....??
