Status Updates From Green Lantern: Tajna geneza...

The standard lull after the dynamic start as a lead in to a hectic finish

Been a long time since I’ve read this graphic novel. The show Lanterns reinvigorated my love of this character and the “Secret Origin” storyline is crucial to understanding the Geoff Johns mythos.

I’ve never seen the parallels between Martin Jordan and Abin Sur until today. Love the updating to the origin while remaining true to the history.

The art was beautiful! I can’t wait to continue onto Green Lantern: Emerald Twilight!

It sounds like their prophecy has some merit to it at least! The Green Lantern’s vow has the “brightest day and blackest night) words in it. I find it interesting that the Guardians want to keep the Lanterns from believing it. William Hand is making me nervous. I have a feeling that something bad might happen with him.

Committed the genocide of Space Sector 666 (what a creative name!) and only five individuals left. And are now out for blood. I have to say I 100% understand their reasoning. But by the end of this volume, Atrocitus and the other four survivors are crucified in the prison planet Ysmault. I wonder where their story will go! And whether their prophecy will come true or not.

And how does it go through the green lantern’s light? Is it as simple as just that the fear overpowers the will? Or is there more to it? I don’t know if Sinestro saw what Hal did and ignored it or if he really didn’t. The Guardians (there are 12 of them) are interesting! Their mansions are yellow (that is something to think about) and they created the Manhunters who through some error (intended or otherwise)

I like the fact that the Green Lanterns need to charge their rings or else it’ll be ineffective. And I also like the fact that they can’t pierce yellow items with their green lantern’s power (though we clearly saw Hal Jordan do it!) and the color yellow is associated with fears (Abin Sur’s eyes turned yellow when Atrocitus was taunting him. So it posses those who are scared but how does that work?

A little side note, Ch’p is the cutest! You mean to tell me a little squirrel is a Green Lantern! He’s adorable!

I really liked the concept of the Book of Oa! It’s such a cool idea. Sinestro is an interesting character! And Hal Jordan too! I can’t wait to see where their stories go! And on the other hand, Hector Hammond’s power is quite something! I’m sure he’ll make a good villain. Abin Sur’s mission seems like it will haunt the story, and I wish that there are some comics that explores his story before his demise.

It was my brother too who gave me the reading order for this (Geoff Johns) run, so I trust he’s not leading me astray. When I got him into reading comics I didn’t expect that one day he’d recommend me so much (great!) stuff to read but here we are! It just makes me so giddy!

I liked this quite a lot! And reading it in the (unofficial) Arabic translation made me feel like a kid again! The story was good & I’ve always been a fan of the green lantern’s powers, it’s so cool! & Hal Jordan is an interesting character. I started this because of the new HBO show (Lanterns) which only has three episodes out! So I need to catch up & watch it with my brother who put me on this whole journey!

Book 7: what a great way to wrap it up and also kinda foreshadow where things are going. TBH I don’t think I have anything on Hal fighting sinestro but they were boys in this so that’s kinda sad to see end

Book 6: I can’t believe Hal had a thorfin moment. Very aura. Also Hal did use his ring against yellow. Very insane he getting gaslit
