"The federal budget for fiscal year 2018 proposed by the Trump Administration in May 2017 would eliminate more than 3,000 jobs and reduce funding for the EPA to $5.7 billion, 31% lower than the amount appropriated for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2017. The Associated Press reported: “Adjusted for inflation, that would represent the nation’s lowest funding for environmental protection since the mid-1970s.”
