As a first person novel, I expected more of a diary-style writing. This is more a depiction of events. Very one-dimentional. No internal conflict, as I would imagine an orc, who newly gained a new level of intelligence, would also start discovering a deeper level of emotion.

The plot is pretty interesting, but very straightforward.

Is he gonna get into the Academy or not? At least the instructors seem chill.
