Status Updates From I Want To Go Home

I’m 15 pages in, and I just know I’m going to love this book!

I like the conversational tone. I hope I’ll equally care about the memoir when I’m done. Not sure what to make of the meandering thoughts and memories yet. Some to link to the “present” but others seem really random and disjointed.

"The blue in front of me is vast, unpredictable, magnificent and yet unforgiving. With each wave, it breathes life - and as it inescapably crashes it can so easily take it away."

"It's odd that when you're in a peaceful cemetery, you find yourself silent, as your frustrations and problems are meaningless here. Nothing seems as unbeatable as death."

"I'm still thinking of the message from Yuko - I want to go home. It is haunting,helpless and heart-breaking. I think to myself that perhaps this is the driving force behind why Mr Takamatsu dives week after week. To fulfil Yuko's last request and bring her home."

"When I think of her out there in the sea, I hope she'll be the one to find me. When we separated during shopping she was always the one finding me. But you know, things are not that simple," says Mr Takamatsu.

My heart just died reading Yuko's message.

"I just want to tell her that we are all doing fine. Our family is doing fine. And I would ask her where she is."

OMG This is tearing my heart hearing Mr Takamatsu story.

"If love is blind, then losing love is like triggering all the other senses to follow suit, to shut down. Suddenly, it doesn't matter what's for lunch; advise from close ones fall on deaf ears; familiar scents of the other half slowly fade away and you wish you could hold onto your loved one for just a minute longer so that everything will return to how it was."
