The Lies That Build A Marriage;
‘Taoist heaven is different from Christian heaven.’
‘Did she love him?Did he love her? Does it matter now? What is love? Is it fidelity? The act of staying together until death to us part? In the end, everything must end in death and forgiveness. If not, how do we live? ‘

Just to be sure. always, it’s just to be sure. The ma’am who had everything wants to be sure if everything. She who has nothing is never sure of anything. She cannot even be sure of the child who dropped out of her womb.

She also doesn't hesitate to point out things bothering her. The desperation, when you have no money to treat your seriously ill child. Prostitution, importance of literacy, foreign workers....

Venture where others don't dare. Speak unspoken, break tabu, say out loud what's hushed. And that's what Lim is doing. She humanizes things that shouldn't be a big deal. Son comes out as gay? It doesn't change the fact his/her son. Girl was brought up by loving lesbian mums? That's unusual but it turned out OK. And so on.

The weakest short story so far. At least the previous ones were easy to read and enganging. Somehow they have challenged my culture and point of view endorsed in the country in regards to LGBT people. Unsettling feeling, but hey I read to broaden my mind.
