I have no idea why I failed to update my status timely. This series us si good that I've already read book 1 twice now.

Needing to unpack has me motivated to restart this intriguing young adult series🎧

An intriguing premise, but unfortunately the first chapter unceremoniously throws us into the book without proper explanation. Its disorienting how they talk about modern concepts but then talk about spending gold. I'm curious to learn more, but I'm not terribly attached to any of the characters yet...

Free on iBooks & Kindle Unlimited. Premise is good, but she needs an editor - badly. It's like her English teachers never told her it was a bad idea to use passive tense, or English isn't her first language - a lot of the sentences seem as if they were written by someone who learnt English from Yoda... The amount of similies is ridiculous - "as a" or "like a", appear about every 3rd-4th line.

Barth sounds like he's going to grow up to be an abuser. Not just the physical violence kind, the psychological too.
