This is a well-written and well-researched book, but only about 1/3 of it is about what’s on the back cover. The rest of it focuses on all the various ways researchers and industry get tangled up, and the other various ways people have tried to ameliorate that problem. If you’re looking for information about false health claims, etc., this isn’t the place.

Reading this one for a class, but loving it so far! 3 quotes that I think sum up the first 3 chapters of the book:

“ Food is a lens through which we can examine society’s most critical issues.”
“ Drug companies were skewing research long before food companies were.”
“Food companies want to sell products. Researchers want to get grants.”

Exceedingly dry but has interesting info.
