Status Updates From Ribofunk: Stories

The Bad Splice was a continuation to both Boot and Blankie, or at least, set in the same PI world and again the would building was good. Main POV needs a punch. McGregor was terrible. Brain Wars was interesting in concept, but for some reason a bit forgettable in each message.

Big Eater has interesting world building, but the rhyming was just too weird to enjoy. The Boot also had interesting world building, but it feels like it was narrated by Dresden. Blankie is a continuation Boot, but its first scene this time was horrifying. The world building remains good, the PI angle is not bad but the characters have not aged well at all.

One Night In Television City was terrible. Little Worker started out kind of infuriating before the twist made it interesting? Still no winners. Cocksucker was honestly? Toooooooooo American for my taste. Didn’t enjoy any of these.

I read this 25 years ago and didn't much understand it the first time. I got more out of it on a read through and how some of the stories connected with each other. It's a bit on the weird side.
