“a pain-wracked man of steel races into action with every step he takes searing agony, every motion racking torment, but still he continues for he is superman and he will never admit defeat!” !!!!!

Notes:
(1) It's interesting to see how modern Neal Adams' art is in context.
- His story is the second-oldest one here, but looks the most modern of them all.
(2) A lot of these stories have Christian messaging, quite overt in some cases. It's odd to see that from a 2022 (almost 2023) viewpoint.
- There's one mention of Hannukah here, and that's about it for other holidays.

Notes:
(1) Robin keeps calling Wonder Girl "Wonder Chick."
- Possibly, times had changed to where "girl" was deemed insulting or demeaning and "chick" was the new modern/hip term. Of course, today you can't call girls "chicks," for precisely the same reason. The irony.
(2) I understand that "groovy" was a common word, at least in theory. It's so weird to see it in practice.

Notes:
(1) This is the first time I've really read any Pre-Crisis stories, and it's sort of a culture shock.
- I'm not used to thought bubbles period, let along how ubiquitous they are.
- There's lots of third-person narration. It's exactly how they used it in the 1966 Batman show, so that's the voice I use in my head.
(2) 1970s John Stewart speaks heavy jive, I mean heavy!
