Mistletoe Me, Baby ~ 3.5 stars

“I don’t need mistletoe as an excuse to kiss you now.” Nolan did that sexy growl thing that sent shivers spiraling through her and leaned forward again. Normally she wasn’t one for PDA but with Nolan, she wanted to stake a public claim. He was hers and she wasn’t letting him go.

Blinking away tears, she said, “I don’t know how I’m going to tell him.” “I’ll be with you if you’d like.” She nodded once. Even if she’d tried to push Nolan away earlier, it was clear he wasn’t going anywhere—and she was glad. Leaning on him wasn’t such a bad thing. She trusted him beyond measure. “Thank you.”

She was his. They’d been building up to this for a long damn time. Even if she didn’t realize it. There would be no going back to just friends for them after this. Hell, she already had his ring on her finger. And he didn’t want it coming off—something he wasn’t going to think about now.

When he glanced over at her, her breath caught in her throat. The way he looked at her was the way a man looked at a woman he wanted to do bad, bad things to. And she was more than willing to let him. She wanted to do a few bad things herself. Because apparently, she’d lost all vestiges of her sanity.

“So… I might have told my parents a teeny tiny lie to get them off my back.”
“You made up a fiancé?”
“Sadly, yes. And yes, I know how pathetic that is. And my mom just called to let me know that she and my dad are on their way here. They’ll be here sometime tomorrow afternoon.”

Having her touch him like that, whether she meant it intimately or not, affected him. Physically and otherwise. He’d been respecting her boundaries because hell, he wanted to be her friend. She was a sweet, sexy woman and in the last year they’d become friends. Best friends, even.

The way she said “home,” as if his place was hers, stirred something deep inside him. He realized that no matter which place he ended up buying, Samantha was his home. As long as she was with him, that was the only thing that mattered.

Fear lingered inside her at the thought of Nelson waiting to hurt her—or worse, someone she loved. It was hard not to second-guess the decision she’d made to not press charges against him. Now she wished she had. Thankfully, she had Maguire at her side. Still, that fear only grew when she thought of something happening to him because of her. She’d just found him again. She couldn’t lose him.

“A man who made harassing phone calls to your cell phone and office, who showed up at your work and even your home uninvited. A man you had to get a restraining order against? A man who broke into your condo? That’s a stalker.”

He liked working with his hands. And he’d like to get them on Samantha, as soon as possible. He still couldn’t believe he’d kissed her earlier. He’d barely brushed his lips over hers, but it had been a kiss. Not something clients did with their Realtor. He’d felt possessed though. Just like he had years ago around her.

Tonight he planned to find out what she’d been up to the last few years. And why she’d been so quick to believe he would have cheated on her. Soon he planned to claim what had been taken from him. It had sliced him up to lose Sam before. And to find out it was over a stupid misunderstanding—from someone he barely remembered—knocked his world on its axis.

Every day with her was a good day. Since Fallon had come into his life, everything had changed. In ways he hadn’t seen coming. He’d never expected to ask a woman to move in with him as fast as he had Fallon. But he didn’t regret asking her for one second. He’d figured they were headed that way anyway and he really liked waking up to her every morning.
