We've just finished reading about how a belief in witchcraft is bad. But, somehow, smearing lambs' blood on doorposts to magically protect the Israelites from the 10th plague is... good?
I don't get it.

42% of the world's population is "unreached" by the Gospel? Somehow, I find that hard to believe. I bet many non-Christians have heard of Jesus; they're just not interested in converting.

It's a bit rich to hear about the persecution of Christians. Yes, it exists in some places. But who's done most of the persecuting over the last couple of millennia, especially in Western countries? It sure wasn't the atheists!

How could Jesus found a church when his teachings weren't even shared until decades after he died? The book gives the dates of the New Testament books (the first 4, anyway) as being between 60 and 90 AD. And then it goes on to say that Jesus founded the church? (Even if there was some sort of church running earlier, why did it take decades for the conversion materials to be written?)

After seeing this book trying to explain the Trinity... I'm not sure if it even knows what it's trying to say!
(And the reference to "jolly old St. Nicholas" is just confusing. Phrased like that, kids are going to think of Santa Claus. Especially since there's a picture of Santa Claus, red suit and all!)

Rather presumptuous to assume that the "unknown god" talked about in Acts 17 is the Christian one.
But, consider the source...

Such lovely subject matter for a children's book.
So, if your name isn't in the book of life, you'll get thrown into the lake of fire. If you don't follow Jesus, you'll headed straight for hell (aka "the outer darkness", "unquenchable fire", and "the blazing furnace").
Nothing like instilling a bit of fear to make people do what you want...

"Lightening"? Seriously? (We're not talking about something you do to your hair with bleach. We're talking about the electricity that accompanies storms.)

These two-page spreads are really hard to read in Adobe Digital Editions when it doesn't let you view anything side by side...
I think I need a break.

This is what gets me about religion. So poor Uzziah got a nasty skin disease that deformed his face. These things happen. But of course the real explanation is that he got this because he burned some incense and God got a little miffed.
To continue to cling to stories as a way to explain away things that we can now explain with science seems rather silly. But what do I know? I'm a dirty heathen.

Too many spelling mistakes with the names here. Especially when some of the names are so similar to begin with. This needs to be proofread better.

Oh, and since when is the average US home 2635 square feet?! Good lord... How much space do Americans need? (The statistics I found look more like 2100-2200 square feet or so. 2635 is absolutely huge!)

I think Solomon got ripped off by his contractors when he was building the Temple of God. $2 billion for a 2700-square-foot temple? I think he got taken...

If the dates are BC, you need to say so! (Otherwise, it looks really weird to see date ranges like this: 1250-1214.)

The claim that the Red Sea was a mistranslation from the Reed Sea is up for debate. A few minutes of searching found plenty of evidence to the contrary. Apparently, the body of water gets blooms of reddish cyanobacteria... and this may have influenced the name in numerous languages.

The closest star to our galaxy is 4.2 light-years away, so the light we see is 4.2 years old.
I'm surprised there are scientific facts in here at all. Should I be surprised that they should get this one so spectacularly wrong?
