This is what gets me about religion. So poor Uzziah got a nasty skin disease that deformed his face. These things happen. But of course the real explanation is that he got this because he burned some incense and God got a little miffed.
To continue to cling to stories as a way to explain away things that we can now explain with science seems rather silly. But what do I know? I'm a dirty heathen.

It's a bit rich to hear about the persecution of Christians. Yes, it exists in some places. But who's done most of the persecuting over the last couple of millennia, especially in Western countries? It sure wasn't the atheists!

How could Jesus found a church when his teachings weren't even shared until decades after he died? The book gives the dates of the New Testament books (the first 4, anyway) as being between 60 and 90 AD. And then it goes on to say that Jesus founded the church? (Even if there was some sort of church running earlier, why did it take decades for the conversion materials to be written?)

After seeing this book trying to explain the Trinity... I'm not sure if it even knows what it's trying to say!
(And the reference to "jolly old St. Nicholas" is just confusing. Phrased like that, kids are going to think of Santa Claus. Especially since there's a picture of Santa Claus, red suit and all!)

So, if your name isn't in the book of life, you'll get thrown into the lake of fire. If you don't follow Jesus, you'll headed straight for hell (aka "the outer darkness", "unquenchable fire", and "the blazing furnace").
Nothing like instilling a bit of fear to make people do what you want...
