This book turned out to be quite different than I expected. The content seems quite informative for the most part but I find a lot of the information a bit repetitive throughout what I have read so far. I have every intention of finishing the book however, I needed a break from it. Based on what I have read thus far it is quite easy to digest. The author did a good job at breaking apart the information.

Dispel the Past- Remind yourself that the person from the past relationship is not the person in the present relationship.

If we risk opening our heart to someone who rejects us,
it doesn’t have to be the end of the world. We can allow
ourselves to feel sorrow, loss, fear, loneliness, anger, or
whatever feelings arise that are part of our grieving. Just
as we grieve and gradually heal when someone close to
us dies (often with the support of friends), we can heal
when faced with rejection.

We should feel free to express our fears. But this doesn’t mean that the other person is responsible for how we think or feel.

Romans 12:15 tells us to “rejoice with those who rejoice.” Paul knew what he was talking about. It really is important to be grateful not only for your own blessings, but for the blessings of others.

Dear Lord,
You know the person and situation I’ve been struggling with.
I pray that You will be with my loved one. Please help our relationship to improve. Show me what work I need to do on my end to help things change. Help me be assertive instead of aggressive, passive, or passive- aggressive, and to tame my tongue.
Thank You for the guidance You give me through Your Holy Word. Amen

Easily offended? Learn to let it go by showing empathy and extending grace. So many cliches mentioned in chapter 3. Even so, I do need to be more positive and patient in my life.
