Oh my. A lot of stuff happening in this (first part of) the chapter - we learn about Aoi's neglectful, abusive mother (who we'd had hints about) and it looks like she's going on a date with 大旦那様! Who is acting much nicer now that she's stuck her neck out for the inn (even though she's human). But also who has told her that when the flowers on her hairpin die is the deadline to pay off the debt. Oh my!

I'm really enjoying this book! Every time I think that something might get boring or not matter, it ends up being relevant and interesting. So that's super nice! I'm curious about Aoi's grandpa's motives - during her conversation with 松葉様, something seemed suspicious. And 大旦那様 is so mysterious - in their first encounter and with the encounter in the scene just now, he seemed like more than just an asshole. Hmm. Fun!
