Oh my god 😫 so many mentions of asian cultures. I can’t deal with this anymore. How can you make so many parallels between an existing culture and an ALIEN culture without sounding a little xenophobic (maybe that’s not the word for it but something like that). You’re saying it’s “exotic” to the point of not being human??

I’m guessing the author based a lot of the alien ways in east asian culture and lifestyle, language too. I think it’s supposed to be outlandish for the average reader, and it might just be, but to me (foreign born east asian) it’s just silly and disappointing :/ It could have been so much more imaginative, but it’s just a white person’s version of “very different”

Finally!
