Generous critique of Family integrated movement. Maybe not the most incisive part of the book, but hits the right notes, especially regarding the fundamental nature of the church. Seems like this was a much bigger deal fifteen years ago.

"With regard to theology, it will be important to be grounded in the biblical teaching on the nature and function of the church. With regard to method, there should be a certain amount of flexibility and openness to a variety of approaches."

Should be a maxim for any minister

A balanved survey of view on NT divorce and tremarriage passages. Pretty light, with good pastoral thoughts that apply no matter where one lands

Really solid chapter. Good for a sunday school class

Interesting take on child-obedience in Eph 6 emphasizing the need for salvation. Obv true, but was suprised that they essentially believe Paul is talking to believing children.

Could have done more on "discipline" and "instruction." No discussion on schooling!?

Looks like the move here is actualy to read Block's essay on the family in Ancient Israel (Campbell's book). This chapter has a tone of useful lists of familial responsibilities, though.

"Patricentrism" seem like a code concept, but that wording will never catch on.
