i LOVE that even just in this first volume, we’re seeing several different angles of how the aristocracy poisons people. this time, it’s not even a noble who’s the sinner, it’s someone who has learned how to benefit from upholding the system and all its immorality

i’m excited to see how fast it takes me to despise every vile noble that comes up in this series cause i’m already PISSED and cannot wait to see how baron is gonna get murdered

LOVE the panel of the lamb with a bite taken out of it as william warns the baron about the commoners potentially overthrowing the aristocracy!!! and then immediately following that with the baron leaning on “customs and laws” to protect him…….i don’t think he knows what kind of story he’s in

“OUR ADOPTED BROTHER” SHUT UP OH MY GOD SO HE QUITE LITERALLY REPLACED WILLIAM THATS SO FUCKING SICK WHAT A DETAIL

WILLIAM’S CAKE BURNING UP IN THE FLAMES AS ALBERT REINTRODUCES LOUIS AND (WIL)LIAM AS HIS BROTHERS LETS GOOOOOOOO that is amazing imagery to show how william’s ideals meant nothing in the end, they were swallowed up by the flames that represent albert, louis, and the true william james moriarty

LOVE that albert mimics liam’s pose when he offers him a spot in the family to help bring about his ideal world. they really are kindred spirits

i will say, the manga did a better job of establishing that the servants ALSO suck cause i remember feeling bad about them getting caught in the fire in the anime. but this version made it clearer that they were also infected by classism and treated liam and louis like the lowest of the low. the entire house was just a cesspool

i was already shocked in the anime when albert stabbed william, but seeing him strangle his mother instead in the manga???????? WILD. i can only assume that it was changed to be more streamlined and focused on william alone, and also maybe bc it’s a bit easier to stomach. idk which version i prefer but both are definitely brutal

WOAHHHH i love that they put the panel of liam in the church under albert’s monologue about his desire to create his ideal world. it shows how aligned they are with both their beliefs AND determination to actually follow through

this panel of the fork made me realize that the manga didn’t have the scene of liam stabbing himself in the hand so louis didn’t have to take william’s punishment!! it seems like the anime wanted to focus most on william and show us more of louis and liam’s relationship off the bat, which makes a lot of sense. maybe they also wanted to tone down the abuse

i can already tell that i’m gonna be saying the phrase “and he did nothing wrong” about a million times as i read this. eat the rich kill the nobles 💅🏻

this is another interesting consequence of the two williams!! the general public barely even sees the og william and so does he even exist in their minds? liam IS william james moriarty to the common people bc he actually interacts with them and makes an impact. by the time william dies, he’s actually already been long dead and replaced by liam

wow this is already so much more brutal than the anime!! the story feels way more full and we’ve just started.
i also think it’s an interesting choice to have two williams, especially considering how i know this chapter ends. it’s almost like liam supplants william and that’s his first big step in creating his ideal world. they’re complete opposites, but liam prevailed and got the name to show it

william fucking SUCKS oh my god?????? there’s already so many more little details in the manga than in the anime, like william knowing about his father’s mistress and using that to exacerbate his mother’s hatred of liam. he’s a literal fucking sadist. and he even seems to look down on his own mother for being weak and not influential enough to get a divorce. fucking devil child

i did watch the first 3 eps of the anime so i’m not going in COMPLETELY blind but i’m very excited to see how the manga differs
