I want to read more fiction and non-fiction books that tackle on the political and cultural nuance and complexities of the middle east and Northern Africa. This book is the one that started it all and thanks to these amazing sahafiyat (female journalists).

Breathtakingly amazing accounts of bravery, self-discovery, courage, and identity. Ill say this again, this is the best blind buy book ever!! Every aspiring journalist should read this book.

The last essay has changed me and I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. Identity politics, gender, and the intersectionality muscle that requires to be exercised to understand how power is weaponized against the oppressed, particularly women.

I'm only a few essays in and the first one has already captured my heart entirely. Riveting and heartbreaking altogether but a very necessary read.
