Status Updates From The Christmas I Know

I do hate formulaic writing. Is there an outline that writers use to write these Christmas romance stories? Start with a couple that NEVER in any world/alternate reality would actually be a couple, then make one be an idiot, not check a weather report before traveling, shocked to discover there's a snowstorm in Northeast US ... AT CHRISTMAS ... delaying his attempts to get home to Toronto, etc. ...

Yes, I, Nicky James, wrote this book. It is full of tooth-decaying fluff and oozes sugary sweetness everywhere. It might make you barf rainbows and shit butterflies if you read it. You’ve been warned. I have handed in my angst card since I no longer feel I deserve to possess it. My title of Cry-Whisperer has been withdrawn. That being said, I hope you enjoy Andrew and Xavier’s story.

I find it kinda disingenuous that the main MC suddenly discovered his current boyfriend is a dick, after dating for 2.5 years, exactly when he meets a handsome stranger. Also, too much emphasis on hating\loving Christmas as a basis for a bad/good relationship, as opposed to mutual respect and compromise.

I meant to read this already before Christmas. Only a month late and only midway through 😆

oh, also, at this point, val can kick rocks for all I care. not reading the synopsis so I don’t know who andrew ends up with buuutttttt

this is cute but the anxiety of this travel debacle is so well written my heart is freaking pounding and it has zero to do with the romance. this is why I can’t do survival stuff!

“I put in for a week in July. If I can get things standing on their own with the project, I’ll come to see you.”
“Two more months.”
“Yeah.”
He nodded then kissed his fingers and held them out. I copied the gesture, and we said good night.
