One of the poems in my reading today ends with the line "Thy loves the bloom no canker worm destroys" and I wonder if it is an echo (or a response) to Blake's 'The Sick Rose', which was written before the Clare poem.

Lots of poems about birds and their nests again and boys stealing eggs from them, which makes me annoyed in a way that surprised me. Stop stealing eggs you buggers!

As I think I've said before I'm working through this very slowly. But I'm really enjoying it. They way he brings the countryside to life is great. I love his 'moody crows' or as they as is later 'melancholy crow'
