Jack learns that his mom left them because she just wasn’t good at being a mom and a wife. Their dad was much better at being a parent than her, so that’s why she left them with him. His parents are seeing each other again after his mom got divorced. Jack is trying to figure out how to get Hannah to forgive him. It’s going to be difficult but he might have an idea.

Hannah is heartbroken that Jack used her for a story to progress his position at work… even though she did the same! So ANNOYING! She isn’t worthy of being loved… blah blah blah! No one loves her for her! Sasha knows how much Jack loves Hannah because she saw the way he looked at her. But Hannah doesn’t want to fix it. She is scared.

Jack’s story on the senator broke early during the engagement party. Giselle is the sister of Jack’s ex, Lauren. She came over to talk to him but he was talking with his boss Irv. His boss told Giselle everything about his story to lose Hannah. Giselle went and told Hannah. Hannah is pissed! She makes a scene and her boss isn’t happy. Everything crumbles in a matter of minutes.

It’s the night of the engagement party of the senator’s daughter. Jack has a friend who works for the post, who might be able to get him a job there. Which would mean he wouldn’t have to publish the story on Hannah. Tonight he is going to be himself and tell her what he has been doing, why he has been acting weird. Tonight will change Hannah’s future after her boss sees how much Jack loves her.

Jack keeps blowing off Hannah. She still likes him but is wondering why he is acting so strangely and has been acting differently. Jack tried getting a comment from Noah, Hannah’s ex, since he works for the senator but he didn’t say anything. Jack has mommy issues and blames himself for her leaving, so he tries to be the perfect guy. Hannah got burned by men now she hates them all. It’s so nauseating!

Jack tries to get out of having to finish the article and try to save his relationship with Hannah. But his boss threatens to fire him. If he wants to write about what he wants then he has to stick with it. If he tells Hannah the truth and doesn’t write the article then he will be fired.

Jack is late for the Halloween party Hannah is throwing. This is the party where her boss will meet Jack and decide if he loves Hannah and if she is fit for the promotion. Jack is late and shows up messy. Hannah is furious but of course Jack puts on the charm and she crumbles. The Senator is there and asks for an introduction. He is charming then too.

Can’t stand this book! That was the grossest chapter I’ve ever read and I didn’t even read it… I skimmed it!! I should have stopped reading this book at page 140!!

Jack doesn’t want to go too far with Hannah and hurt her. She has no problem going all the way with him. I really don’t like the spice level of this book.

Hannah goes and meets Jack’s dad, brother, and sister. They seem to like her. Jack wrestles with his brother after he makes some remark about Hannah, and she has no idea what to make of it. She only has to be with him for another few days. I can’t stand this book!

Hannah got tickets for Jack to the hockey game. That would make him fall in love with her for sure! She went with him to the game. He mansplained the entire game! She got onto him and told him to stop. She has watched hockey since she was 4! He may have actually got her frustrated with him. Not enough to stop darting him like he is hoping!

Jack is trying to get more info on what scheme the Senator is participating in. Hannah has no idea what switched with Jack. Noah shows up to the venue planning and Hannah realizes she has moved on from him. He looks longingly at the Bride, Madison. He must really like her. He never looked at Hannah like that!

Jack invites Hannah to an art show. She actually knows the artist. They did an event together previously. Jack introduces Hannah to his mom on their second date! She doesn’t react since she needs to date him for 2 weeks. He tries plan B and flirts with another woman. Hannah is so bothered but again can’t say anything.

Jack is coming up with a list of ways to lose Hannah. His first step he decides on is to introduce her to his estranged mom! He doesn’t see her much since she left them and got remarried. Hannah is busy at work when her ex, Noah, comes to see her. He works for the senator whose daughter’s wedding she is helping plan. He doesn’t trust her work and seems smitten with the bride.

After their first date, Hannah is determined to stay focused on getting her promotion and not developing feelings for Jack. She won’t overthink why he didn’t want her cause it doesn’t matter. He isn’t long-term. Jack feels bad for leading Hannah on but she would have left him anyway. She will move on quickly after he gets his promotion. He does feel bad about adding her dislike of men who treat her badly.

I am not liking this book. I am tired of starting books and then realizing they are full of cussing and over the top sexual content! 😭 I need to start looking up spice levels before buying books!

After dinner, Jack invites Hannah to his place. She is really liking him but is in her head a lot. She is very conflicted on really liking him and thinking about her promotion. Jack has a really nice place. His dad got the place after the company couldn’t pay him all of the contractor fees.

Hannah and Jack are on their first date. He has to be charming to get her then he can work on losing her. Hannah is surprised how much she is genuinely liking Jack. She wishes it didn’t just have to be to get her promotion. He takes her to a super fancy restaurant he can’t afford but the chef owes him a favor for writing about their restaurant in the past.
