i’m not totally loving the story “the prisoner of las lomas” so i’m being pretty nitpicky but the tortoise/torture does not hit as much as a comparison as tortuga/tortura does so perhaps part of my issue with this is the translation?? or perhaps fuentes is just not for me as i have yet to read a short story of his that i absolutely loved 😔

finished the second story ("la desdichada") and once again all i have to say is: what the fuck was that (& i'm not even sure if i mean it in a positive or negative way)

i finished the first story (constancia) yesterday and it was very well written and bonked me a couple of times but i must admit i was left very, very confused about like… who was alive and who was dead and who was actually spanish and who was russian but pretending to be spanish. still. fuentes good <3
