Karla’s perspective is the most relatable. Because she has the story of a firm apolitical radicalized once she got exposed to the social issues their time was facing.

I’m not surprised that it took another minority, a black commissioner to help the LGBTQ community. Even when it’s something as “small” as not being served drinks at a bar for being homosexual. It puts into perspective that people who aren’t would know that even at a micro scale, homosexuals are discriminated against because of their sex.

It’s interesting how a turning point happened and started a change in conversation about homosexuality through the accumulation of different activism movements since socially, different people were fighting for the same rights as humans. Anti-war, pro-black, pro-gay as well as the assassination of JFK. Historically, it would bring people together.
