Status Updates From The Fractured World

Big ol' meh. Mildly interesting beginning, but it was quickly squandered as the plot rushed forward without much nuance. Very, very basic. I didn't hate it, but I definitely rate it pretty low. This was barely an investment time-wise that I'll probably check out the second some day, to see if it improves any. But I don't have high hopes.

These stalkers are predatory animals, but they're still animals that would have a sense of self-preservation. The fact that they are still doggedly attacking even though Brandon has slain dozens of their pack by this point is stupid. They would've fled already. Animals don't just throw themselves at a wall and die endlessly.

Sat down to read, and as expected, it's flying by now. They introduce a new character, and Brandon is having sex with her like 3 scenes later. This book has no pacing to speak of. I'm not hating it, but it's not that good.

'Did he even give a single shit about Casella the person?' To be fair, you don't really care about her, either. You just think she's hot and like having sex with her. That's not caring about her as a person, that's just lust. You don't know her well enough to care. That's the problem with this book - there's barely any relationship development. It went from 0 to 10 to 90 in seconds flat. Very lackluster.

Huh, really just threw us into that sex scene out of nowhere. Definitely a stark contrast to Harem Farm, where it was built up to quite a lot. It's kind of... unsatisfying when it comes that quickly. (Hehe.)
I feel like I've barely spent time reading, and also barely anything has happened in the plot, yet I'm already a quarter through. This is a short book.

Like the other David Aries book I read, the characterization is lacking. Brandon was a nerdy shut-in before the beginning. Now he's directly disagreeing with a buff amazonian bodyguard and forcibly grabbing a beautiful princess' arm to drag her along in the direction he thinks is best. That is the absolute polar opposite of what a true shut-in nerd would do. It's unearned/unexplained charisma.

Obviously not far in yet, but it's ok. Interesting enough hook. We'll see how well he can keep it going.
We've had descriptions of a few exotic-sounding aliens (molerat people, tomato-esque people with antennas, squished potato people). But I bet anything that all of the love interests are just going to be almost identical to normal humans, with maybe a few various skin tones and superfluous things like tails.

Oh my god. "Yo bro, this is tight bro, bro bro bro bro bro." This Keith guy is insufferable. I know he's about to vanish from the story and never show up again (I assume and hope), but it cannot happen fast enough. How to write the most annoying character 101 right here.
I've never heard the term 'full of beans' before. Means energetic/lively.

I know I already started another series by this author, but I had this loaded on my Kindle (I loaded it when I loaded Harem Farm). Didn't really feel like continuing Harem Farm right now, and this was ready to go, so here we are.
