There is something weird going on here, almost a “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” sort of thing. Roan is the main character, but the story being told here is from everyone’s POV but Roan’s. Clearly what Roan says and does and thinks is of primary importance, the side characters not so much.

Good story so far, but a little all over the place with a lot of short little philosophical digressions.

Nothing like a dose of the old ultra-violence, eh Holden? It does the job, though...
