A 2019 estimate by the Peterson Institute puts the cost per job saved in steel at $900,000. a deal by the state of Wisconsin with Foxconn would cost up to $230,700 per worker per year. The employment there has not increased as rapidly as promised, so that the actual cost would be higher.
