It started out good but now feels like the book is veering into a lesson on politics and that stuff irritates me. I just want pure story, no intentional lessons on whatever. It doesn't even matter if I agree with the author's stance or not, that's not what bothers me. I just want a "what if" scenario played out and not steered. Well it's only halfway so let's see how it ends.

Interesting POV character. I don't think it's a spoiler to say it's not human.

I really should read the 3rd book of the Moonfall trilogy but the copy I have is a physical copy and I didn't have it to hand when I finished a book on my Kindle and wasn't tired so searched for another Kindle book to read. I liked and loved some of the author's other books so let's see how this one fares.

The author is an optimistic writer but I shan't hold that against them, this is a charming tale of alien probe meeting humans in the worst place possible, a war zone somewhere in eastern Europe (I'm surmising here) and the very bad and good things it learns about humanity along the way.
Naive and childlike are two words to describe both the probe and author as the story unfolds.

Johnny 5 meets Elliot,
"Ouch"
Alien probe drops into humans favourite pastime of general slaughter and genocide, not a great first contact scenario.
