The female character needs more internal consistency. She is afraid, confrontational, aroused, hopeful, etc. only to turn the story rather than in ways that make sense. Renee Rose’s stories usually have better characters than this.

This is frustrating. They have rescued a woman and a girl from slavery and being auctioned as a sex slave. They recognize that they are terrified, but they don’t tell them that they rescued them to reunite the girl with her mother because… it’s a surprise? That’s just weak writing. I don’t expect a great deal of depth, but the characters need to make sense.
