Chapter 6 was by far the best chapter in the book. The problem is the attempt to use subject supposed to believe as a complimentary to sujet supposé savoir. Beliefs operate differently than knowledge, which is granted, but specifically a belief operates in the background in such a way that it need not be consciously acknowledge, where as knowledge and its place are manifested in situation.

I’m not buying the parallax model on the unconscious, but then again I’m no analyst. Not seeing the need to count both analysts and analysands in the move Tupinambá is making through Badiou. There’s and odd claim about the clinic not being ontological in any sense, yet if you take Badiou seriously, the clinic is just another situation thought through Badiou’s ontology.

I don’t like sentences like “without going too much into this difficult matter” in a book about Lacan. No shit, it’s Lacan and I doubt anybody is gonna reach for this as a primer on the Lacanian artifice, let alone read it to page 64 to get stumped by the distinction between Enjoyment and Knowledge.
