David left the army to go home because he couldn’t wait anymore. Jeff still in the army went home even side they made a trip and they went through his house so he visited his parents and he stayed the night

They have one week left of practice until they go to Kansas to the war. They always eat the same food and they are trying to get some watermelons to eat something different.

The main character is sent to the military to get ready for the Kansas War. In his first day, he got grounded by the captain because he didn’t know the commands yet and he argued with the captain

Interesting, entertaining, and becoming increasingly intense

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this book or author before! Jeff is such an amiable character and the writing is so masterful and true to the facts, atmosphere, and time period that it’s absolutely wonderful for so many reasons!

Is all fair in war? This book is definitely exploring this concept.

The family got in a fight with two guys who lied about being state agents. The came inside the family house to get food and they pulled their guns out pointing at the main’s character dad. All the family got in a fight kicking them out with everyone alive and healthy.
