“Very fucking funny.” Ford grunts as he hauls the body up and yanks it away from a corrupted that’s trying to reach for it. “Not fucking yours, asshole!” He turns to Remington. “Goddammit. Catch!”

“No.” I feign scandalized shock. “I’ll order pancakes and have them delivered. They’re usually still pretty warm by the time they arrive. Just pop ’em in the microwave and you’re good to go. Sometimes the syrup congeals a little, but then you just spread it with a knife. No biggie

“Good. After this is all over and the portal’s closed, we’ll have pancakes for breakfast.”
Her eyes light up, and she straightens a little in her seat. “Really? You’ll make pancakes?”

“Again, I resent that,” I drawl. “You call it lazy, others would call it a brilliant tactical move.”
Ford barks a laugh, some of the tension draining from him. “Yeah, like that time Nix got pissed at Sawyer and threw everything within reach at him without ever moving his ass off the fuckin’ couch.”
“Another brilliant tactical move.” I grin. “Why do you think I have so many remotes?”

The thought of watching them hate fuck each other makes my cock twitch, growing semi-hard. I’m tempted to just stand by and let this play out, to see what happens when all that tension between them finally snaps.

Trinity falls back a little, losing a bit of her steam in the face of my brother’s anger, but I know Ford isn’t reacting this way just because he’s mad.
It’s because he’s turned the hell on.
To be honest, I kind of am too.

“Are you kidding me?” she shrieks, and out of the corner of my eye, I see Remington’s eyebrows shoot straight up. All three of us are watching her and Ford, riveted to the sight before us. “I didn’t let him go! Why on earth would I do that when I’m the one who wanted to close the stupid portal in the first place! So why would I do anything to sabotage that? Huh?”

I open my mouth to draw a breath, but before I can say anything, Trinity snaps. Seriously, I swear I can almost hear the sound of a rubber band twanging as her back goes ramrod straight.

I feel like Mc is not an angel obviously from the men’s reactions to her. But I feel like maybe she was born at the same time as the sins. Or was a lover of theirs in a past life. I just know she ain’t an angel that’s for sure. Maybe she’s a heavenly virtue.

“All right.” I nod firmly, even though my hands shake a little.
Morrigan’s smile widens, and she nods enthusiastically as she beckons me. “Then follow me, my child.”

Her gaze alights on Trin, and she gives a sharp-toothed smile.
“Not money. I have money, don’t need more. In payment for this spell, I want her.”
One bony finger points straight at Trinity.

Remington and Phoenix both cover my eyes. “Don’t look, Trin,” Remington says softly.
I want to tell them that I’m not a child, I don’t need to be protected—but at the same time, I really don’t want to see the violent, painful death happening right in front of me. And to be honest, I kind of enjoy the feeling of being protected by them.

I think I’ll like sloth a list the most. Dunno why. The appeal is just there.

The mark staggers, his hand flying up to his chest to clutch at my sparkly shoe. Then he falls, landing hard on the floor.
“Ah, ah, ah. No you don’t,” Phoenix drawls, and I’m neatly picked up and yanked out of the way before a bolt of what looks like pure hellfire lashes out at the spot where I was just lying.
Whoa. What the heck just happened?

“It’s him!” I call to the men, but they’re already on it, chasing after him, shoving patrons out of the way. I try to run, but I stumble in my too-tall heels.
Darn it all.
I yank them off and shove them at Phoenix just as he reaches me. “Here!”
“Excellent.” Phoenix nods. “I’ll just hold these for you, and you can go get him. Perfect plan.”
Gah. Sloth!

Remington—who, if you ask me, is the best behaved out of all of them.
Remington gets an adorably sheepish look on his face and shrugs. “Gamblers are gluttons,” he explains.
Ah, that makes sense.

It’s not the lust dust this time. There’s nothing that I can blame it on but myself.
Ford and I stare at each other for a beat—and then at the same moment, like we’re starting a duel, the two of us lunge forward, and our mouths smash together in a rough, passionate kiss.

Unruffled, Ford picks the guy up, hefting him over his shoulder. “Okay, now can we fuckin’ go? Or do you all want to spit-roast her again?”
Remington actually covers my ears, although it’s a bit late for that. “Could you please not talk like that?” he asks.
Ford just smirks, then turns and starts to head out.

I slide up to Phoenix, my hands moving up his chest. Oh, man, he’s so beautiful. So masculine and perfect. I should tell him that.
So I do.
“You’re so gorgeous. All of you are gorgeous. It’s weirdly unfair. Couldn’t even one of you have turned out unattractive?”
“No such luck, I’m afraid,” Phoenix manages. He sounds strangled.

“You don’t have to sound so put out about itIf this is your way of flirting, I’m disappointed. I should’ve known that Sloth would get someone else to do his dirty work for him.”Phoenix bursts out into laughter as I pause in front of another statue. “You’ve got a mouth on you, babe. I shoot him a hard look. The fucker might claim this is just because he doesn’t trust Trinity, but that’s not the truth—or at least, not all of it.
He’s protective of her.

Off topic but I just took a nice 2 hour nap after a meal and a good night of sleep. And I feel nice. 😊

I’ve seen between characters on TV shows all the time: the commanding oldest sibling who expects to be obeyed, the angry middle child, the peacekeeping middle child, and the spoiled, lazy baby of the family.

“If we could manage this without scaring him to death or breaking any bones, that would be great,” Remington puts in dryly.
“Bedtime, then?” Phoenix actually perks up as he speaks, like he’s been waiting for this all day.
“Yeah, you’d like that, wouldn’t you?” Ford sneers. “Lazy motherfucker.”
Phoenix just rolls his eyes and starts raiding Beckett’s fridge.

“They picked me third because they’re stupid and overly optimistic,” Phoenix points out with a grin on his face.
“Believe me, I’ll regret that choice until the day I die.”
“Huh.” Ford narrows his eyes at Beckett. “You don’t want to give Ryland a call? See if he wants to team up for this little mission you’ve got goin’ on?”

“Go easy on her,” I say. I can’t help it; it’s my instinct to make sure everyone gets along. Indulgence comes from pleasure and peace, after all, not from my siblings all beating the shit out of one another.

I think I work the most with gluttony, greed, and sloth.

The two men battle wildly, and Phoenix takes a neat step out of the way.
“And we’ve got a serious contender here, folks,” he drawls, sounding like a sarcastic version of the announcer from the arena. “Wow, look at these two go! Could Ford finally have met his match after all? Will his sheer idiot brute anger win out against his opponent’s egotistical, maniacal greed? Who knows!”

I’m starting to get the impression that although they were all created at the same time, Beckett is the oldest sibling in every way that matters. Including being a control freak.

Normally it’s wrath so that means. Wrath is probably the youngest child.

Heheh they’ll probably need a bigger car. Like a road trip bus for adventures.
